Sunday Cooking!!
MeatBalls
Sunday 1st November 2015
First off, Happy First of November!!
Second, on Wednesday I attempted to make some meatballs. I've never thrown ingredients in a bowl and attempted to make meatballs before. I've made them with my Grandma before but never on my own or without a recipe.
So, I thought I would give it a go.
The reason I was making meatballs was because instead of having spaghetti bolognese (again) I thought I would have an attempt at making meatballs and having spaghetti and meatballs to change it a bit. The only ingredient I really knew I was going to use was mince.
When I was getting the mice out of the fridge I saw the carrots and cheese and thought they would be a great addition to the meatballs. So I grated some up and put it in a bowl. I also remembered that most meatballs have onion and I diced half of one up and put it in. I would have put more in, but I'm not a fan.
Next was an egg to combine it all together and some parsley and mixed herbs.
After getting my hands dirty and making 65 meatballs, I was ready to start cooking.
I cooked a few at a time in several batches before I added the tomato based sauce and some cherry tomatoes. I also cooked some spaghetti noodles and mixed with it when it had heated through.
They actually turned out rather nice, although they did crumble a little when I was browning them off. They may have needed more flavour in the meatballs themselves and the cherry tomatoes probably should have been cooked a bit longer.
But all in all, it's not too bad for a first time. Over the next few months or so I am going to have several more attempts at making meatballs until I get them as perfect as I would like. There will more than likely be a lot of posts on Sunday's to come about meatballs.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and have a great week!!
Bye, Bye!!
