Advent Christmas 2019

Advent Calendar

Saturday 4th January 2020

Christmas 2019 was Erik's second Christmas, I wanted him to have an Advent Calendar, but at his age, almost 20 months at the time, he is a bit young to be having a lolly or chocolate every day even if they were only small ones. So instead I bought this fabric Advent Calendar from our local Kmart I believe it cost less than $10 and I filled it full of toys and different experiences for him to have throughout the month.
As it was only his second Christmas and I did decide this late into November I didn't have every pocket filled with something but at his age, I don't think he would mind very much. But here is all of the things we did/got for Erik for his Advent Calendar leading up to Christmas in 2019.

Day One: Decorate!
The first of December is the day I always put up all of the Christmas decorations so this was Erik's first experience for the month.
Day Two: Decorate Christmas Cards!
I always like to write out Christmas cards and hand out at the beginning of the month. This year since Erik could do some kind of drawing I thought it would be cute if he drew in all the Christmas cards. However, it took his like 6 minutes to draw in the first card I age up on that idea and we can try again this year.

Day Three: Pyjamas!
We got Erik some Christmas themed pyjamas to wear every night of the lead up to Christmas.
Day Four: Playing Piano!
I'm slowly teaching myself to play piano, and by slowly I mean like once a month I play the piano a little, for the fourth day I thought it would be nice for Erik and I to play some Christmas songs together on the piano.
Day Five: Tree Decoration!
Today we gave Erik a decoration for the Tree, it was a cute clay Koala.
Day Six: Nothing!

Day Seven: Snowglobe!
Erik got a cute little snowglobe with a little Christmas tree in it.
Day Eight: Christmas Cup!
Erik is slowly learning to drink from a cup so we got him a little Christmas cup.

Day Nine: Decorate Tree!
Because I can't help myself when it comes to Christmas we also have two old Christmas Trees outside and today because it was a bit cooler we decorated the outside Christmas tree.
Day Ten: Bath Toy!
You can never have too many bath toys so today was the first bath toy Erik got this month. He got a little watering can.
Day Eleven: Christmas Craft!
I got out the paints and some canvas and we did some painting with only Christmas colours, or for those with the keen eye, the colours of Watermelon!
Day Twelve: Christmas Pageant!
Every year our town like many others hold a Christmas pageant. Erik loved it, every reindeer or anything that looked even similar Erik called out, "Dog". He loves dogs.
Day Thirteen: Bubblegun!
Erik like a lot of Children loves bubbles! So we got him a bubble gun, it is exactly what it sounds like. A gun that shoots bubbles!

Day Fourteen: Nothing!

Day Fifteen: Bath Toy!
Erik got another bath toy, this time it was a little whale that you pour water on and it has a spinning propeller.
Day Sixteen: Pool!
It's hot over here in Australia at Christmas time so we went to the pool with my Dad, Erik's Grandpappy. Erik loves it in the water, that's partly why he has so many water-related Advent things.
Day Seventeen: Tree Decoration!
For his second Tree decoration, Erik got a little caravan.
Day Eighteen: Gingerbread Biscuits!
Lots of people love to have gingerbread biscuits around Christmas so Erik and I made some! I did most of the work but Erik did help a little, when he is older, he would be able to more of the steps.
Day Nineteen: Snowglobe!
My Mum, Erik's Grandma brought him a snowglobe for his Advent Calendar. This time it had a little Llama in it.
Day Twenty: Play-Doh
I made some play-doh today for Erik and I to play with, it's a recipe I found on the internet somewhere and I will make a blog post about it later this week.
Day Twentyone: Christmas Light Hunting!
A tradition in my family has been to go for a walk around our town and look for houses that have put up Christmas lights! When I was younger it would be my Mum, my brother, me, my Aunty and my four cousins. These days not as many of my cousins come and Michael and Erik come with us as well.
Day Twentytwo: Tree Decoration!
Third and last tree decoration we got Erik a little clay shark! It is very cute.
Day Twentythree: Bath toy!
Third and final bath toy is a purple scoop that Erik just uses for drinking with, which is honestly gross...

Day Twentyfour: Christmas Light Drive!
Going for a drive Christmas eve has always been another tradition of my family, one I will be doing with my own little family. Going for one last drive around town to see the Christmas lights before Christmas day.
I hope these inspire you for an Advent Calendar for your little one! Have a great year!
