6 Months
Erik's 6 Month Update
Monday 22 October 2018
Today my baby boy is 6 months old. I remember the day when Michael and I went and had the first ultrasound and got to see our little Bean for the first time. I had to drink a lot of water beforehand, which isn't great having a full bladder then someone pressing on it. A beautiful little Bean he was too.
The first couple weeks after Erik was born were not quite what I expected. He kept losing weight and we weren't sure why, even though he was getting enough to eat. He did start to put on weight, we aren't sure why it took him so long but now he is doing excellent at putting on a good amount of weight every week.
Erik has been in 6-month (0) clothes for a couple weeks now, mostly because he has long legs and they don't fit properly in 00 clothes. When Michael and I roughly weighted Erik last he was around 7kilos. We have his 6-month check-up in two days so I will talk about that in next weeks vlog. He also has his two bottom teeth.
Erik is a very happy boy, he is always smiling and it is easy to get him to laugh. His laugh is so magical. He isn't crawling just yet but he can now sit up unassisted. About a month ago we finally got Erik a jumperoo. We had been meaning to get for since he was about 2 months old. He has always loved jumping and he loves his jumperoo. If you check out last weeks vlog titled, Baby Food Solids you will see how happy he is jumping about in it.
He does not sleep through the night but we are down to one sometimes two feeds a night. He also has two to three naps a day. He does co-sleep however he has his day naps in his cot in his room.
I am breastfeeding Erik have all along, I did express for a few days but found it was just easier not too. When Erik turned 4 months we start introducing him to solids. We got some Baby Rice Cereal that is a powder but turns into a mushy consistency when you had water. It is completely tasteless, however, it's full of vitamins and nutrients and all the things a growing baby needs. We were giving it to him once every couple of days but started giving it to him twice a day when he was 5 months and 2 weeks. Within the next week, we are going to start introducing flavours into his rice cereal.
For a long time now Erik has preferred to be in an upright position rather than laying down. He is very vocal and talks to himself a lot and is always making noises. He nearly always has his thumb in his mouth, sometimes it includes his fingers. When I've been observing him play I've noticed that he uses his left hand more. Personally, I think he might be left-handed.
