Book Review: Lesbian For A Year

A couple years ago I went to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland to visit some friends. While I was there on one fateful shopping trip at Target, a book jumps out at me, 'Lesbian For A Year'. Maybe it's the black cover with pink and red kisses or the bold title, but I purchase it. I read it on and off for the next few months then forget about it untile the other day when I'm looking at out bookshelf for something to read. I pick it out and read the Prologue for the second time. Currently away from home for a bit of a holiday, I bring it and start reading it again.

I forgot what it was like to be hooked on a book, where you don't want to put it down. You read while you prepare food, while your eating food while you trying to change your clothes, you read when your supposed to be eating. It's a never ending cycle until the book ends that is.

The story is a sort of biography of Brooke. It starts briefly with her time at high school and soon it/s telling you about her being engaged and moving out of home. Moving around for jobs on islands and cruise ships. When she moved back to Australia she working in a Hotel then started in the media.

Now she is delving into female territory with a new show on the rise. I usually find it hard to write book reviews, "Do I include that or is it a spoiler?", "Will this piece of information intrigue the reader or bore them?".  But today I don't know if it's the wonderful atmosphere or the fact I just really want to get back to reading my book. Maybe a mixture of both?
Either way, it's getting done.

Score: 8 Out Of 10
