The Sims Ramble

The Sims

Monday 27th June 2016

Everyone has that game that they love and always fall back on. For me, that is The Sims.
Back in the day, my Mum would never allow me to have The Sims as she didn't like the idea of basically owning someone's life. I didn't help my case when a friend came over and the two of us played her Sims game on the Play Station and we locked a guy in a tiny room and just basically tortured him by not allowing him to sleep, eat or go to the toilet.

A few years later for Christmas my brother and I got A Wii and The Sims came with the Wii console in a bundle. I proved that I wasn't a monster and I could actually be trusted with a life (that and I was a few years older). Around the same time I think it was I got a version of The Sims on Nintendo DS (Dual-Screen) where you ran a Doggie Spa I think it was. I did rather well on that and build a mighty Doggie Spa empire.

After that, I recall getting a PSP (Play Station Portable) and spending many hours playing The Sims Pets. I wasn't very good at having a dog as a pet because I always forgot to wash it and then it wouldn't let me and it ran away. But having a cat as a pet I was much better at. The only difficulty I had was when it insisted on scratching on my expensive couch and destroying it (I wasn't that great at training cats). It took many hours of playing but I did manage to own the most expensive house with the best design.

The Sims have come a long way from that. When my family got our first laptop (and upgraded from a desktop that was slower than my Aunt Mildred). I purchased a Sims bundle that included, The Sims 2 starter, The Sims 2 Nightlife, The Sims 2 Celebration. Which I still own amongst the rest of my PC game collection. I spent so long playing The Sims 2 and it's been a rather long time and I honestly don't remember most of it.

When The Sims 3 came out I was so excited (I was also rather late on the bandwagon). I had like three of the expansions that I had borrowed from the library and one and owned. then my friend Fluffy lent me all of her's because she had them all. Then for my birthday about three years ago she got me The Sims Seasons so she could have hers back. A few months after that I got The Sims 3 University and The Sims 3 Island Paradise. I got so obsessed every time I got a new expansion that I lived and breathed Sims for days afterwards.

Then The Sims 4 came out and Fluffy got a copy of her very own for a gift from Weirdo. And she came to our house and stayed. She played The Sims 4 and I played The Sims 3. It didn't matter that we weren't playing the one all that mattered was that we were both playing Sims. I actually remember us lying on the living room floor eating biscuits and showing each other different things that were happening on our screens. A few months down the road and Weirdo and I decided to get The Sims 4 and that's when we started the Let's Play on our Youtube channels. We have stopped playing it now as Christmas came along and we got distracted with life events and never got back around to it.

Anywho, after experiencing all these different Sims games on all these different platform's I know which one is my favourite. Taking into consideration that The Sims 4 is still only just getting started I can honestly choose.

The Sims 3 has to be my favourite. I don't play it as much as I would like anymore but I still choose that above others. What is my reason behind this? Well On the Sims 3 it seemed more life like if you know what I mean. They had seasons which I loved, going out in the Winter and making Snowmen which I can't do in real life as our Winter over here in Australia doesn't get cold enough (which is also a good thing). I loved having pets mostly the cats because I found them easy to look after. I loved having cars and motorbikes. The terrain tool was wonderful I really enjoyed being able to make hills and building on a beach with the water under half of the house, it's just wonderful. Plus with all of the expansions and packs that the Sims 3 had given me all of this furniture and items to use to decorate my house or apartment or land. It made having different Sims with different personalities easier. Oh yes another thing, I love Vampires and Witches and all the other Supernatural beings. I loved being able to be something or someone on Sims that is completely different from real-life.

This is a long and a little bit rambly post. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. And if you made it to the end congratulations you surpassed the intertangled grasp of The Sims hallway in my mind.
I hope you have a wonderful day and a fantastic week.
